MADE: "JACK"-O-LANTERN

I love Halloween, I have been dying to start posting tutorials. So from here to October 31st, I will be posting Halloween related projects, not all will be party related.
This idea was a group effort. I was getting drinks with my good friends Maria and Alessandra. I was filling them in on the Halloween party i'm co-planning this year. I made it VERY clear that booze would be flowing all night at this event. So a stocked bar was a must.

Maria suggested a "Jack"-O-Lantern. A plastic pumpkin filled with Jack Daniels. I quickly realized those plastic pumpkins are nowhere near food safe. Why not try a real pumpkin? Why not make it a shot dispenser? The idea was born. The instructions for the "Watermelon/Pumpkin Keg" are all over the internet, so I know this isn't an original idea. Just my spin on it.

SUPPLIES: PIE PUMPKIN / BEVERAGE TAP / APPLE CORER / KNIFE / ICE CREAM SCOOP / STAND CANDLE HOLDER / JACK DANIELS TENNESSEE HONEY
Left to Right
1. Carve the Pumpkin like normal. Place a cup on the top and score around it for a perfect circle.
2. Gut the Pumpkin with an ice cream scoop, make sure to get out all the guts. Don't scrape too much of the meat out. You want the sides strong. Rinse with water.
3. Use an apple corer to make a hole in the Pumpkin. It should be pretty close to the bottom.
4. Assemble the Beverage Dispenser in the hole. Make sure that you use the rubber grommet. You want the washer at the back to be tight, but not so tight that it cracks the Pumpkin. Place the Pumpkin on a silver candle holder.
I found these fun Martha Stewart test tubes. I plan to fill them with a layered shot. You'll have to use your imagination on this. I didn't want to make 10 layered shots just for me to drink. I plan to layer Grenadine, Peach Schnapps, and Fireball Whisky. Layer in that order, I filled a glass bowl with clear marbles so the shots stand up. I'm entertaining the idea of some dry ice in the bowl.

Here is where you'll find some of the pictured Halloween items: Flameless Candle / Test Tubes / Skull Spout

  1. This is awesome! I want to come to your party. Do you find the pumpkin changes the flavour of the liquor in it? Not that that is a bad thing.... ~Stephanie
